Coach’s Game Analysis:

Good job on today’s game. It was a nice, convincing win, to end our two-game slide. Below are my other observations from the game:

Fielding:
- Team was very relaxed and made the easy outs. We had a very short memory of bad plays.
- Marcus was a “one man demolition team.”
- Our opponent was a little disorganized on defense. For example: on a grounder to short there was no one covering second to make the force out. This gave us extra opportunities.

Base running:
- Team did an excellent job of base coaching from the dug-out. Enough said.

Batting:
- Team did a good job handling a pitcher with a very high pitch arch. The best strategy against such an intimidating pitcher is to be patient and wait for your pitch.

Announcements:

- We have a double header next week. First game is at 8:30. Second is at 9:30. Bring some snacks and water to help keep your energy level strong for both games.

Game Highlights:

Big Bats:
Garrett: 4 for 4 with a run.
Marcus: 3 for 4 with a run and 2 RBIs.
Dee: 2 for 4 (2-2B, BB, 2 double plays) with 2 runs and 3 RBIs.
Indies #1: everyone had at least one hit.

Web Gems:
JV: Play at the plate. (1st)
Indies #1: Marcus to Dee (3B) to Larry (2B) 6-5-7 double play. (1st)
Marcus: Single handed L5-U5 double play. (2nd)
JV: F5-4 double play. (2nd)
Marcus: Caught a ball on the wall after it hit netting for the out. (4th)
Mike: Did the splits to catch a short throw to first for the out. (6th)
JV: 6-4-3 double play. (7th)
Marilyn: Multiple force outs on balls hit to the pitcher.
Indies #1: Limited JV to 1 run or no runs in each of the seven innings played, including 3 shut-out innings.
Both teams: 4 double plays converted in all.

Pitching:
Marilyn: 7 IP, 0 Ks, 2 BB, CG, Win.

Memorable Events:
- Marcus’s great game on defense.

A-WOL Watch:

Batting:
- 3 for 5 with 2 runs and an RBI. (3 bases taken.)

- Used heavy bat for first 3 at-bats and then switched to light bat. First two hits were cheap but enough to score a hit. Almost struck-out during third at-bat; with the count 2-2 (and a foul), did a soft “make contact” swing on final pitch to hit ball into dead center just behind outfielder.

- Took “risky” (aggressive) run to second on a pop-up that was not fielded. Again took “risky” run to third on a pop-up that was ultimately caught. Was doubled-up as a result. (Bench agreed it was a play that was hard to second guess as I would have been out if he did not catch ball and I did not run aggressively.)

- Out ran a throw to first to foil DP during fourth at-bat. Did not out-run throw in fifth at-bat.

- Contended with a mile-high pitcher by waiting for good pitch. Was losing ball in the lights in final at-bat.

Fielding:
Outfield:
- Caught two put-outs at second. Made one throw to first by throwing over base runner to attempt double play.
- Fielded one grounder and tagged second. Glasses helped with low lighting. (3rd)

Short stop:
- Missed fly ball off ceiling after diving for it. Ball was caught in the webbing, but underplayed it as I was used to a harder ball from practice. (3rd)
- Fielded a ball after it got by a diving Dee for put-out at second. (3rd)
